The Dell Latitude X300 is the
thinnest and lightest of all Latitude
Notebooks. Starting at only 2.9 lbs
1
and measuring a mere 0.8 inches
thin - the Latitude X300 delivers
outstanding usability and unconscious
mobility for business on the move.
Equipped with Intel’s latest Low Voltage Pentium® M 738 processor and the Intel® 855GM integrated video chipset - the
Dell Latitude X300 is ultra lightweight and comfortable to use with plenty of power and performance for demanding
mobile computing. Connectivity is also a priority with the X300, which includes standard Intel Centrino™ Mobile
Technology featuring the Intel Pro Wireless MiniPCI card or other optional Dell TrueMobile™ wireless solutions. Fully
integrated communications - both 56K
2
v.92 capable modem and 10/100 ethernet - as well as standard integrated
802.11b wireless - provide "unconscious mobility" with the Latitude X300. The optional Latitude X300 MediaBase
provides easy access to media drives - as well as abundant connectivity ports, a subwoofer, and a battery bay for extra
battery life or battery charging.
Intuitive Form Factors & Design
The Latitude X300 makes a great impression with its ultra slim design, which is less than an inch (0.8") thick. The
system's hard disk drive is internal with optical media used externally in either the optional Dell D/Bay external modular
bay or the optional X300 MediaBase. Therefore, you can carry media modules only when needed. The D/Bay and X300
MediaBase use the same modular optical media solutions as the Latitude D-Family systems. This makes swapping
modules in a business environment much more convenient.
MediaBase Docking
The X300 MediaBase can be used at your desk or on the go. It's lightweight and sleek design allows you to take it on the
road. The media module bay in the MediaBase provides access to your favorite DVDs and other D-Family media modules.
It also provides a battery bay for extended system battery life or for charging your 2nd primary battery. When you're
not taking the MediaBase with you, it works ideally at your desk with its convenient cable management alleviating the
need to re-connect your monitor, keyboard, mouse and other frequently used peripherals each time you return to your
work space. The single release mechanism provides easy removal of the system and provides an auditory feedback to
indicate when docked. To complement the X300's two system speakers, the MediaBase provides a subwoofer for high
quality sound. Lastly, to support increasing bandwidth needs, the X300 MediaBase also incorporates Gigabit
3
Ethernet.
This complements the 10/100 Ethernet LAN solution that comes with the X300 system.
Dell Wired and Wireless Networking Solutions
Every Dell Latitude X300 features a wireless networking mini-PCI card, 56K
2
V.92 capable modem and 10/100 wired
network card as part of the standard offering. The X300 MediaBase also provides 10/100/1000
3
capability. Included in
the standard wireless offering is the Intel® Pro Wireless MiniPCI card. The X300 also features other wireless options,
including a choice of either of the Dell Wireless LAN solutions for those who demand blazing 802.11a or 802.11g
7
wireless
connectivity as well as the Dell TrueMobile™ 300 integrated Bluetooth solution. With Gigabit
3
Ethernet
in the MediaBase, users can rest assured that their notebook investments are compatible with future deployment of Gigabit
Ethernet across the network infrastructure.
High Performance with Intel® Pentium® M 738 Processor and Intel 855GM Chipset
The Dell Latitude X300 features the latest Intel Pentium M processors, which utilize a new micro-architecture incorporating a
power-optimized 400MHz processor system bus and aggressive clock gating designed for high performance & low power.
These processors also feature 2MB of power managed cache and enhanced Intel SpeedStep® Technology. The X300 also
incorporates the Intel® 855GM chipset, which offers integrated graphics capability and USB 2.0 support. The integrated
graphics utilize the system memory as a shared resource for both system memory and graphics needs, dynamically allocating
a portion of the memory to graphics based on the graphic demands of the applications currently in use. Up to 64MB of
memory can be allocated to graphics, and with integrated video acceleration, you can view high quality, full frame rate DVDs
on your notebook or connected external display with low power consumption.
