1. Rack and cable the PowerVault DL2

00 system and storage enclosure(s).
2. Configure the PowerVault MD1

00 storage enclosure(s) to unified mode.
3. Connect the storage enclosure(s) to the PowerVault DL2

4. Turn on the PowerVault DL2

00 system and the storage enclosure(s).
Installing The Appliance In A Rack
If the PowerVault DL2
x
00 system and the optional storage enclosure include a rail kit, locate the

supplied within the rack kit. Follow the instructions to install the rails in the rack unit and to install the
PowerVault DL2
x
00 system and the storage enclosure in the rack.
NOTE: Repeat the rail installation procedure in the rack unit for each storage enclosure.
Cabling The Appliance
Locate the PowerVault DL2
x
00 and PowerVault MD1
x

that shipped with the appliance and
follow the instructions to:
Attach the keyboard, mouse, monitor, power, and network cables to the PowerVault DL2
x
00 system
Attach the power cables to each storage enclosure
NOTE: Do not turn on the PowerVault DL2
x
00 system or the storage enclosure(s).
NOTE: If the appliance configuration does not include one or more storage enclosures, proceed to Connecting The
Cable Management Arm (Optional).
Setting The Storage Enclosure Configuration Switch
Set the storage mode for each storage enclosure to unified mode as indicated in the following figures.
NOTE: The configuration switch must be set before turning on the storage enclosure. Changing the configuration
mode after turning on the storage enclosure has no effect on enclosure configuration until the system is power
cycled. For more information, see the Dell PowerVault MD1
